Master’s degree in translation from Kent State University
ur business owner and lead translator, Ruth Gentes Krawczyk, has a master's degree in translation from Kent State University, one of the first in the US to offer such a degree, and is thus well versed in the ins and outs of the translation business. Over the years, Ruth has built up a team of colleagues with whom she works. This provides quality assurance as you always have at least two sets of eyes checking out your finished document. With over 15 years of full-time and 15 additional years of part-time translation experience, Ruth has seen and handled all kinds of texts, whether they're Word docs, PowerPoint presentations, Excel files or PDF files.
native of Illinois, Ruth spent a total of eight years living in Germany and Switzerland, honing her language skills and working in various industries, including international development and the news service of an international church organization. She also worked in the US in the machine tool industry and founded her own business importing goods from the Erzgebirge and selling them in a bricks-and-mortar store and online. Her background also includes teaching German at the middle school, high school and community college level. Her translation career started at the Lutheran World Federation in Geneva, Switzerland, with a one-year translation internship. She also spent three months in Düsseldorf with Burton, Münch und Partner – World Wide Writers upon the completion of her M.A. at Kent State University in Kent, Ohio.
